    3. Each screw should be placed 1inch in from them edge and end of the board.
    4. Width to width spacing between board for expansion and contraction should be at least 1/8 of an inch.
    5. End to end spacing between boards should be a minimum of 3/16”.
    6. Wherever deck boards are installed end to end, a double joist is required to fasten the deck board to the joists.
    7. Variation from the installation must be approved and the cost for removal and/or replacement of material from the result of a variation will be the contractor’s responsibility.

3.04 CLEANING

    1. Wash using a soft cloth or ordinary long-handled soft bristle brush.
    2. For difficult to remove dirt and stains such as top soil, motor oil, lithium grease, etc. use the readily available household cleaners such as:
    1. Fantastic
    2. Murphy’s oil soap
    3. Lestoil
    4. Lysol
    5. Windex
    6. Vinegar and water
    1. In some cases you may wish to use mildly abrasive cleaner, such as cleansers or a paste-like scrubbing solution. Use of abrasive material could have a negative effect on the surface of the fence.
    2. Do not use cleaners containing aggressive organic solvents because they could affect the surface appearance of the vinyl. Examples of such cleaners are: chlorine bleach, liquid grease remover, strong soaps, and detergents containing organic solvents, nail polish remover, and furniture polish/cleaners.
    3. Avoid using rubber backed mats, or any other non porous objects such as plastic tarps as they may cause discoloration when used on the deck over an extended period of time.
    4. Products that contain chemicals or U.V. inhibitors such as sunblock or other tanning lotions, insect repellants, etc. may cause discoloration if exposed to the deck for an extended period of time. (Use caution and clean deck immediately when it has been exposed to such products.)
    5. Algae, mold and mildew growing on residue deposited onto exposed surfaces should be removed using a soft bristled brush and a mild mixture (10 to 1) of bleach and water. Rinse thoroughly with water immediately after brushing. (Note: algae, mold and mildew is sustained by surface residue deposited on the vinyl, not the vinyl itself.)
    6. In the event of ice removal, most salt products are safe to use. These products may leave a white residue that can be cleaned with the techniques outlined above.
